Rivervale Veterinary Clinic is owned by Veterinary Surgeon Steven Sawkins BVetMed, MRCVS.

He graduated as a vet from the Royal Veterinary College, University of London in 1983 and won the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Second Fitzwygram Prize for this year. This is awarded on the results of an examination taken by final year Veterinary Students of all the veterinary schools in the UK.

After graduating Steven Sawkins worked in a horse practice for six months, then had a James Herriott type job in a mixed Farm Animal and Small Animal practice in Bath for two years and since then he has worked continuously and exclusively with Small Animal Pets. He ran a branch Surgery for another vet in Cardiff for seven years before buying this clinic in March 1995. Back then the clinic was quite small, since then it as grown rapidly and is now four times its original size.

The clinic is called Rivervale as it is close to the River Frome and located in what would have been its valley until roads were built up over it.

Rivervale Veterinary Clinic is easy to find and there is a large car park. We offer a full Veterinary Service with all facilities on site. We employ qualified Veterinary Nurses and we have an emergency service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. No appointments are necessary for surgery hours. Our philosophy is that we treat your pets as if they were our own and to the same high standards that we would want to be treated if it were us that were ill. At the time of writing this web page four different Veterinary Nurses who work at places other than Rivervale Veterinary Clinic all bring their animals here for treatment. We must be doing something right! and we will continue to try to do so.
